Design Concepts:   Form Follows Function

Content .. Content .. Content

Capture the visitor's attention.
Wet the visitor's appetite.
Establish your message.
Provide instruction.

Consider the user's experience.

Visitors to your Web site want to find a clean, readable design that has the right fonts and colors and quick downloads -- but then they want the design to "get out of the way".

We provide our clients a Corporate Identity Web Presentation which may be offered with pride in content, functionality, and effectiveness in communication ...

clean ... smooth ... uncluttered.

Our designs reflect the interests of the desired, client-defined visitor.

Our design techniques are predicated upon the results generated through our development process (considerations of client internal assets are utilized to provide necessary design criteria) and incorporate the use of multiple pages with extensive graphics applications (high resolution photography). Our design objective is to create pages unified by a common theme, a common organization, and a common style. The words, images, colors, and layout lead the visitor to the desired messages - both overt and subtle - that justify the site's existence. We also work closely with clients to ensure our design techniques are compatible with hosting server resources and avoid unnecessary conflicts.
We provide our clients total control of the design process through structured reviews to ensure the content and appearance of the final product communicates the desired message as defined by the client. Our "one-point-of-contact" approach ensures the necessary link between the client and designer and provides an open channel for both content and design technique reviews. Our technique provides the client the opportunity to review and test the current prototype in real-time conditions on a typical shared-domain internet server, and carefully consider the effectiveness of the design prior to publication.
Our design philosophy incorporates the following hierarchy of Web elements:
  • Ease Of Use/Navigation
  • Download Time
  • Regularly Updated Information
  • Quality Of Content
  • Organization Of Content
  • Access To Customer Service
  • Quantity Of Content
  • Look And Feel Of The Site
  • Inclusion Of Animated Graphics
  • Search Engine At The Site
We require a basic fee for a project, but impose no additional charges for page count or number of scanned images. We strongly recommend the client focus on content and professional appearance and avoid the use of arcade style graphics and banners. The right content will boost effectiveness by establishing credibility, providing useful information, encouraging repeat visits, and building business. Every Web incorporates both search and feedback capabilities as standard design components, should those components be desirable. Custom Graphics work will be quoted at a standard rate.
Every Web is designed to reflect the individuality of the client. We do not use pre-defined templates. (As a reference, this Web consists of 58 unique pages, 401 images, 481 files, and occupies 15.8 Mb of server storage space.)  Design prototypes are evaluated both as disc-based webs and server-based webs using dial-up and broadband connections.
Our design station incorporates top-of-the-line hardware and the best software available for Web design work. We also monitor Internet User Demographics and consider typical user equipment configurations as a component of the design process ( examples would be multiple screen resolution settings, operating systems, browsers ).
Additional considerations in design are:
Navigation. Make it easy for viewers to move around your site through hyperlinks and buttons.
Download times. Graphics and media files take longer for viewers to download than text. Be careful to not overload your site with time-consuming features that are unnecessary.
Media technologies. Sound, video, and animation can be added for greater impact.
Forms. Gather visitor information by asking people to register or fill out surveys.
Maintenance. Develop a schedule for keeping information up-to-date.
Visitor Equipment Capability Don't over design. If your desired visitor cannot "see" your presentation as it was intended, the effort will be wasted and the objective will be lost!
In keeping with our desire to remain a small business, we have elected to utilize Web authoring tools providing a WYSIWYG (what-you-see-is-what-you-get) capability which provides error free prototyping and editing capabilities, while ensuring zero defect quality and very short project completion times. We believe the acquisition of these assets will allow us to remain a small company while providing a fairly priced, quality product and truly responsive customer service.
